North Island Club Championships

The North Island Club Championships this year will retain the successful format released at last years event. The North Island Club Championships have been held at Lake Karapiro for many decades, originally by the Auckland Rowing Association and then more recently by Karapiro Rowing Inc after the regatta was gifted to them as part of the devolution of the Auckland Rowing Association..

Saturday Races

The Saturday race program features all the heat races for the North Island Club Championships and will be run integrated with the remaining heats and the first of the Finals from the Cambridge Town Cup for age group events.

Sunday Races

The Sunday race program will have all the Repechages and semi finals for events that require them and will be run integrated with the remaining Finals for the Cambridge Town Cup Regatta.

Monday Finals

The Monday race program will feature all the Finals (A and B where necessary) for the North Island Club Championships. As a result of larger than expected entries, the finals will be raced over 8 lanes and the medal dais will be in the traditional location adjacent to the boat ramp on the spectator embankment.

Entry Limits

There will be some entry limits in place for small boats. As there are about 33 Clubs in the North Island that could attend the regatta, there is going to be an initial entry limit of 2 entries per club for Singles and Doubles in Novice, Club and Senior class. This is to allow all clubs to have the chance to enter 2 crews in each of these events. At 8am on the 4th of January 2018, these limits will be removed and will allow any club to enter crews up to a maximum of 64 crews per each of these events. By limiting entries to 64, that will remove the need for a time trial should the entries exceed the provisions of the progression system.
